A possible intoxication campaign aimed at implicating the Ukrainian military intelligence services has been launched on Telegram. Even if contacts and possible small formations have taken place, convincing the public that the Ukrainian services are fighting alongside the Tuaregs would allow the Kremlin to lighten the weight of the recent defeat on Malian soil while complicating the Ukrainian diplomatic position.
The irritation of the Wagner and Africa Corps networks on social networks is obvious. Between the calls for a minute of silence, there is virulent criticism of the Malian Armed Forces, accused of having abandoned their Wagner allies when the situation turned to their disadvantage.
While Wagner and the Africa Corps will probably be forced to observe an operational pause and review their order of battle, the impact on the position of the Sahelian juntas towards their services and their confidence in the “Russian instructors” sent to support them remains to be assessed, especially at the price paid monthly.
Some Telegram channels, for example from the “Special Reconnaissance and Action Group” DHSRG “Rusich”, a Russian PMC operating in particular in Ukraine, openly propose to send elements to Mali to attempt an operation to free prisoners of war.
