WHY IS THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SILENT IN THE FACE OF THESE MASSACRES?

Why are the international community, the European Union, the African Union, ECOWAS, the Maghreb and humanitarian organizations remaining silent in the face of the massacres of Sahelian populations, and more particularly in Mali, by the Malian army and the Wagner group?

Is it out of indifference, complacency or geopolitical calculation? Why do these organizations, so quick to denounce crises elsewhere, seem to turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed in this region?

Does the sovereignty brandished by the Malian junta justify inaction in the face of mass crimes?

And what about humanitarian organizations? Have they really forgotten these populations, or are they prevented from acting by security and political constraints? Do fear of reprisals, access restrictions and a lack of international will explain their absence?

Finally, how can we justify this abandonment of the Sahel, when the populations, caught between state violence and jihadist attacks, continue to pay the price of chaos?

Genocide is a crime, Forcible displacement is a crime, Rape is a crime, Torture is a crime, Attacks on civilians are crimes – and it`s all done in Azawad by the Malian army and the Russian Wagner mercenaries! it´s all done – Daily.

Therefore it is URGENT! to act!

But as we know through reports online, the ruling junta has no interest whatsoever in human rights and therefore their (the International Criminal Court) office in Bamako is most likely not the way to go to get any investigations done that leads to transparent and truthful results.

The agressions are going on all the time, at any day and any hour, and everywhere in Azwad and lately this past week, Timbuktu province is witnessing a serious escalation in the crackdown by the Malian army, supported by Wagner mercenaries, as unarmed civilians has been subjected to horrific abuses during military operations, one was in the Tabagout area north of Goundam.

According to reports on the ground, the combined forces of the Malian army and Wagner mercenaries have executed a number of civilians at close range and destroyed property by deliberately burning homes, agricultural crops and household items, as well as destroying grazing areas. So far, three men have been brutally killed, while three women have been severely injured with open fractures and are in critical condition.

And on the 17th of february no less than 24 civilian passengers, among them women and children were brutally executed by Wagner, and as if that was not enough, they went on to kill animals nearby and burn people`s houses! if this is not both crimes against humanity and terrorism, what can then we call it?

An entire people are being subjected to a genocide by the Malian governement and the Wagner mercenaries payed to kill these poor civilians. And they are subjected to forced displacement from their villages and cities. This is taking place in the absence of media and international coverage and with the support and covering up by certain people who are supposed to be their brothers. The least they could do is condemn these crimes but they did not do so.

One day they will have to answer for every drop of innocent blood that they have on their hands.

We call for the International Community to act against this calculated genocide of the people of Azawad!
