Holders of an “Administrative Number” in Libya: Temporary Register for 50 Years or More – Tuaregs Without Papers, Without Rights?
In Libya, thousands of Tuaregs who have been holders of an “administrative number” or what is called a “temporary register” for more than 50 years have been living without papers, without legal identity, without any official proof of their existence. They do not even have a death certificate, as if they do not exist in the eyes of the state!
Without identity cards or passports, they cannot:
❌ Go to school or university
❌ Get official jobs
❌ Own land or register property
❌ Receive treatment in government hospitals
❌ Move freely inside or outside their country
Their lives in Libya are worthless, without rights, without a future!
Did you know that there are many Tuaregs who hold an “administrative number” or a “temporary register”?
This number is given to them in an attempt to prove their identity, but this number is not recognized by many institutions, which means that it does not guarantee their rights in society. The number of Tuaregs who carry this number is estimated at about 17,000 or more, yet they face difficulty in accessing their most basic rights.
Their lives in Libya are worthless, without rights, without a future!
Why this marginalization?
Why do Libyan governments continue to ignore the suffering of the Tuaregs?
How long will the Tuaregs be treated as strangers in their own country?
We must act… Silence is no longer an option.
Tuaregs in Libya: A Life Without Dignity!
Humans were created to live with dignity, not to live in humiliation and deprivation as is the case with the Tuaregs in Libya. Without identification papers, without rights, without official recognition, as if they were last-class citizens!
In Libya, the Tuaregs are exploited in immoral ways:
❌ They are used as mercenaries in wars that do not concern them
❌ They are pushed into illegal immigration in search of a decent life
❌ They are forced to join fake armies and militias that do not even recognize their existence
How long will this injustice continue?
The Tuaregs are not fuel for wars, and they are not slaves without identity!
They must obtain their legitimate rights like any human being on this earth.
🔴 Tuaregs in Libya, holders of administrative numbers, have been suffering from the most basic rights since the fall of Gaddafi to this day!
Since 2013, they have not been able to register their children in the civil registry, nor obtain birth certificates, or even death certificates, as they are forced to deal in a traditional and illegal manner.
📴 They cannot even obtain a phone chip, a health insurance certificate, or even salaries.
But no one is talking about them seriously, rather they have been marginalized and injustice continues against them!
