In a scene unprecedented in history, new chapters of the brutal crimes committed by the occupying powers against the people of Azawad are unfolding. In the absence of any form of justice, the most vulnerable – the elderly, orphans, widows and the blind – are being targeted for systematic displacement and annihilation, perpetrated by military hands stained with the blood of the innocent.

Scenes of destruction and displacement have become commonplace on stage: properties are looted, homes are burned and families are displaced, while children are left to sleep in empty refrigerator boxes, without shelter or mercy. These actions do not reflect a state of institutions or law, but rather an organized brutality aimed at eliminating all those who belong to Azawad.

THE VOICE OF AZAWAD FREEDOM DENOUNCES LIES THAT IS DIVERTING ATTENTION TO CRIMES AGAINST CIVILIANS COMMITTED BY THE MALIAN FORCES AND WAGNER.
Statement by the Azawad Freedom Voice, February 21, 2025.
To the local and international public opinion: The Voice of Freedom Azawad strongly denounces the lies and maneuvers that the Malian forces (FAMA) and the Russian Wagner mercenaries are trying to spread in a desperate attempt to divert attention from the brutal crimes they have committed against innocent civilians in Azawad.
The atrocities cannot be embellished. The disinformation campaigns that the FAMA is trying to promote as “military achievements” or “strategic successes” are merely a blatant attempt to hide the tragic facts committed by this army, supported by external forces, against the Azawadi people.
No brutal force can wear the mantle of “professionalism” or “humanity” while continuing its destructive practices of summary executions, ethnic cleansing, destruction of property, and burning of villages.
There is no such thing as “security improvement” in reality. While they are self-deceiving and deliberately portraying the situation as “security improvement,” the Azawad people live in constant fear. Armed groups move freely, and fighting against civilians has become a daily goal.
What they call “security improvement” is merely a falsification of the bitter reality that people in Kidal, Gao, and Boni are experiencing, where families are being destroyed, communities are being terrorized, and bloodshed continues unabated. The facts cannot be hidden.
Since the beginning of 2025, FAMA forces and Russian mercenaries have launched continuous attacks on safe areas. Thirty people were executed in Gao, and members of a family in Boni were killed and hung from poles. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed and property looted. All of these crimes have been documented with live testimonies and horrific videos.
It proves beyond doubt that the so-called Malian army has nothing but blood on its hands. These facts can no longer be ignored. Everyone must understand that the claim that this army is restoring security and stability to the country is a clear lie that can no longer be accepted. We are witnessing the exact opposite, areas that were once safe have become merciless battlefields where civilians and soldiers alike are being executed and ethnic cleansing operations are being carried out to destroy targeted communities.
Voice of Freedom Azawad will not remain silent. We, at Voice of Freedom Azawad, will not allow the falsification of facts and will continue to expose the crimes committed by the Malian army and its Russian mercenaries to the whole world.
We will continue to spread the truth through all our media platforms, documenting with courage and honesty every crime and every attack, and we will expose the lies that the military forces are trying to cover up.
This is an unjust war, and this battle against injustice continues. Justice will not wait long. No military regime can continue to oppress oppressed peoples under the cover of propaganda and dirty wars. The facts will continue to haunt them, and the Azawadi people will not remain silent.
We trust that the light of truth will soon shine on this darkness. God is truth and justice, and it will not be long before the scales of injustice are tipped.
AZAWAD HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO THE SAME COLONIAL PLAN FOR MORE THAN 60 YEARS, BUT IN A SILENT AND SYSTEMATIC MANNER
Azawad has been subjected to the same colonial plan for more than 60 years, but in a silent and systematic manner, without any media attention or international documentation.
What is happening in Congo, Sudan and the Middle East is a loud version of what the colonial powers are practicing in Azawad, but in a quiet and hidden way, away from the lenses of the media and human rights organizations.
Why is Azawad off the radar?
📵 No global media reporting what is happening.
📵 No official documentation of crimes and violations.
📵 A deliberate blackout by major powers that do not want the Azawadian struggle to emerge.
📵 Silent persecution by starving the population, depriving them of basic services, and imposing a security and economic blockade on them.
What is happening in Azawad is not just a war, but a cultural and political genocide, where the imoujagh (kel tamacheq, the people who speak tamacheq/or the tuaregs) are prevented from speaking their language, their identity is erased, and their lands and wealth are stolen in favor of the neo-colonial powers and their mercenaries.
Silence does not mean peace, it means slow death. Azawadians must realize that the absence of media is part of the war against them. The crimes must be documented, the news must be published, and the voice of Azawad must be heard by all means possible. ✊ Azawad will not be erased, and freedom is not given, it is taken.
