AN ACT OF BRAVERY ON THE PART OF AZAWAD LIBERATION FRONT – FLA.

On the morning on the dec 21st, the entire Spanish press were talking about the release of the Spanish hostage by the FLA – the Azawad Liberation Front, the unified Azawad forces who are fighting for the liberation of Azawad. The Spanish tourist was kidnapped on January 14, 2025 in southern Algeria by an armed group belonging to a cross-border network of organized crimes.

The Sahara and the Sahel cannot be secured in any way without the Azawadis. For those who do not know the story: This Azawadi leader, Mubarak Akli, supervised the handover of a Spaniard who was kidnapped by a gang complicit with ISIS from the Algerian desert, and smuggled to the Azawad desert.

The Azawad Liberation Front then liberated him and returned him safe and sound and handed him over to the Algerian security forces so that Algeria could take over the process of returning him to the homeland. The Azawadis are the safety valve of the Sahel, the Sahara and North Africa.

The Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) informs national and international opinion that thanks to an operation carried out by one of its security units, in conjunction with negotiations conducted by people of good offices,

it has successfully freed the Spanish hostage Navarro Giane Gilbert, kidnapped on January 14, 2025 in southern Algeria, transferred to the territory of Azawad by his captors affiliated with an organized crime network operating in the Sahel and beyond.

Mr. Navarro Giane Gilbert, in very good health, contacted his family before being officially handed over by FLA officials to the Algerian authorities, with whom they were in contact throughout the operation. This handover also comes as the kidnappers entered Azawad through the Algerian border.

This action demonstrates the FLA’s constant commitment to working for the protection of people and their property, with a view to promoting security and peace in the region despite all the challenges imposed by the complexity of the contexts, in particular the activism of various unhealthy protagonists caused by the chaotic situation orchestrated by the Malian junta and the mercenaries of the Wagner group.

The FLA salutes the professionalism and bravery of its security forces, who demonstrated remarkable commitment during this operation without at any time endangering the life of the former hostage.

The FLA also wishes to thank all those who, directly or indirectly, facilitated or contributed to the highly humane release of this Spanish national, thus enabling his return to his family.

Finally, the FLA condemns with the greatest rigor organized crimes and terrorism in all its forms, in particular hostage-taking contrary to the values of Islam and the customs and traditions of the people of Azawad.
