
Weekly news bulletin on human rights violations in Azawad from 03 to 09 February 2025.
Réf: 2025/006/ CD-DPA.
These violations, committed in particular by the Malian armed forces (FAMA), accompanied by Wagner’s Russian militia during the week indicated above, resulted in arbitrary arrests, abuses, looting of goods and personal property belonging to civilians supposed to be protected and secured.
Everything suggests that these actions against certain communities, especially nomads, constitute a deliberate policy of the Bamako authorities aimed at emptying certain areas of their inhabitants of origin.
Following this depopulation policy, we have recently seen a massive displacement of civilian populations in the far north of the country and towards Mauretania.
Below are the details of the facts:
Monday, February 03, 2025
• Another Fama/Wagner patrol ambushed the fairgrounds in Akilwa (about 18 km east of Emnaghil in the Anchawadj Valley/ Gao region). They arrested three (03) people and burned their motorcycles.
Their fate remains unknown at this time.
Wednesday, February 05, 2025
- The same mission also kidnapped a vehicle belonging to Mahamad Ould Chreyaf.
- Two (02) people were killed by a Fama/Wagner convoy in
Tidjachiwene, about 20 km east of Anefif, Kidal region.
• A patrol of the Wagner militia arrived in Elewidj, Aguelhoc circle, Kidal region, and took two satellite Wifis, also kidnapping 3 people including the owner of these Wifi.
These are:
- Badi Ag Ibrahim;
- Ayouba Ag Tallati;
- Mohamed Ag Balaka.
After a day of detention in inhumane conditions, the 3 victims were fortunately released with their wifi.
