Duty to remember against forgetting.
On May 20, 1991, a Malian army detachment commanded by a certain Captain Beredougou Kone carried out a raid, followed by arbitrary and extrajudicial arrests, against the peaceful Arab Tuareg population of the village of Lere (Timbuktu region).
More than fifty people were rounded up and shot. Among the victims were faction leaders, notables, marabouts, imams, merchants, pharmacists, nurses, and others.
THE BEGINNING OF A VERITABLE ETHNIC CLEANSING
This date marked the beginning of a veritable ethnic cleansing that would force the Tuareg and Arab populations to flee to neighboring countries, particularly Mauritania, where a quarter of the elderly and children were decimated by famine and chronic disease.
The main perpetrators of these heinous crimes have never been brought to justice!
The justice of men may fail but that of Allah SWT will be implacable.

Note: According to Amnesty International, the massacre (or any of them over the years as far as we know) has never lead to any independent investigations, which of course, is of no surprise, rather the contrary.
One problem is that Azawad is not internationally recognized as a country/a state since they have not yet got their rightful independence and therefore no international investigations or humanitarian aid can reach Azawad since they unfortunately are obligated to go via Bamako.
Do the money go into their own pockets? to pay Wagner? (or Africa Corps) to buy more weapons for the genocide of Azawadians? (oh for sure and they already are doing that) and surely and most likely all of these.
And the security situation in Mali as of now in May 2025 only gets worse, since A – the authorities are completely dictatorial and B – they do apparently not fight the terrorism as they claim, which right now is escalating in the centre and the south of Mali. Instead they target and attack the civilian population in Azawad in the north, who they instead call “terrorists”, while killing them, burning nomad camps and poisoning animals etc.
Because their goal, their only goal – is to exterminate the population in Azawad.
What the real terrorists/jihadists will do since they apparently are allowed to roam free remains to see. But there has been several attacks lately and we will most likely see more.
