IT WAS IN 1958 THAT THE LEADERS OF AZAWAD DEMANDED FRANCE TO NOT LINK THEIR LANDS TO SOUTHERN MALI

French Sudan, which is what the French colonizers called the area, became the autonomous state of Mali in 1958, and it was against the will of the Azawadian people to be included.

Mali became independent from France in 1960. Due to Malian oppression and neglect, four major Tuareg rebellions took place against Malian rule: the First Tuareg Rebellion in 1963–64, the rebellion of 1990–1996, the rebellion of 2006–2009, and a 2012 rebellion.

In 1957 and 1958, tribal leaders, notables and scholars of all the components of the Azawad people sent memorial request to French President General de Gaulle to openly express their desire to proclaim their own independence away from French Sudan.

Unfortunately France ignored it and unjustly attached it to Mali, which by the way, they created in 1960. And by doing that, they started a 65 year long suffering for the Azawadian people, under a genocide by the successive Malian authorities who since then have tried to wipe them out.

One reason for the French colonialists ignoring the will of the Azawadian people was most likely that they wanted to punish them for their fierce resistance against colonization, because they never gave up their resistance, and they resist still today and will always resist. Therefore, until this unjust colonial mistreatment is corrected, which have cost so many innocent lives and displaced thousands, there will not be any possibility for peace.

Azawadi Contexts:

The cause of the Azawad-Malian conflict in a picture! Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov’s statements shed light on the true nature of the Azawad issue It is the result of colonial injustice, which subjected the Azawad people to the rule of the Mandé to whom they had no connection!

Ignoring the aspirations of the indigenous peoples and their refusal to be subjugated to a foreign body.

Such as this memorial request signed by the leaders, notables and merchants of the Niger River Bend (the regions of Tinbuktu, Gao and the districts Kidal, Menka… etc) in 1958.

This forced integration created a heterogeneous entity based on the oppression of one party (which had concentrated power and strength thanks to the colonial legacy) over the other party, which saw it as nothing but a stranger, to be subjugated or removed from its land!

Like any other people on this earth, the Azawadi people will not accept being ruled by an other foreign people. They will fight to preserve their existence among the rest of the nations on earth and under the sun!

What are the current Malian authorities doing?calling the Azawadians for terrorists while keep massacring them with the help of Russian criminal mercenaries and Turkish drones, while the world is watching in silence.

Of course the Azawad Liberation forces fight back! – because they are men who fight for a just cause, they fight for freedom of their people.

The people of Azawad deserve so much more than just being heard and finally gaining their independence so that they can live on their land in peace like all other people – it is a human right.

A human right they have been deprived of by suffering under a post-colonial issue that has still never been solved.

The Azawad issue is an incomplete decolonization issue that has been postponed since 1960. It`s time to get that issue resolved!

“France, Mali, Russia,Turkey (by selling the drones that kills innocent civilians in Azawad)”and the allies, the accomplices and the silent ones… – they are all guilty”

Those who are complicit in this 65-year genocide, whether directly or indirectly, regardless of who they are, whether through conscious indifference or silence, will one day have much to answer for.

Because there will be a day when justice will knock on the door.
