Protests filled the streets in Bamako this saturday on the 3rd of april, in a manifestation against the dictatorship of the Assimi Goïta regime.
Malians took to the streets of Bamako in large numbers demanding the departure of transitional President Assimi Goïta and demanding a return to constitutional order. And this is the first time that the military junta of Mali is facing widespread protests among Malians since they sized power in 2020. This is the regime who wants to dissolve political parties in order to have no opposition.
Protesters chanted, “Down with dictatorship, long live democracy!”
This is the regime that lets the Malian population starve and be without electricity while using their money to pay the Wagner mercenaries to kill the people of Azawad, to buy Turkish drones and burn the land of Azawad. While they keep the Malian people believing in the “force of their army”, and that they “neutralize terrorists”… while performing a genocide in Azawad with the help of Wagner.
It´s clear that Goïta will want to stay in power as long as possible by any means necessary and surely tensions will continue. But it seems his time is running out…
UPDATE: 08-05-25 – #Mali: Assimi Goïta suspends political party activities in Mali until further notice.
