Political Forum of Azawad, dated May 3, 2026.
Statement of Condemnation.
We, the leaders and members of the Azawad Political Forum, strongly condemn and reject the successive statements issued by certain countries and regional and international organizations against the legitimate self-defense of the Azawad people.
We affirm that the defense of the people of Azawad is a legitimate struggle, fight, and resistance, guaranteed by international laws relating to self-defense, the right to self-determination, and the protection of civilians.
We reaffirm that the military junta in Bamako is solely responsible for the consequences of its decisions regarding the withdrawal from the Algiers Agreement, signed in 2015 under multiple international guarantees. This same military junta in Bamako is also responsible for the use of Wagner mercenaries, considered terrorists by the international community, and for serious violations, including extrajudicial killings and rapes, documented by local civil society organizations and confirmed by United Nations reports.
Furthermore, we affirm that the peaceful people of Azawad feel betrayed by the same countries and organizations that are publishing these statements today, but which remained silent for years and decades when the Malian state was perpetrating its atrocious crimes against the Azawadian people.
Signatory: Dr. Mahfouz Ag Adnane, President of the Forum.
