The Wagner Group, (now switched out for the Africa Corps) keep spreading terror in Azawad (as well as in the rest of Africa where they operate, for example in the Central African Republic, (#CAR) and are acting as a weapon of force for Russia to establish a long-term influence in Africa. They really do a lot of damage to innocent civilians in their way of spreading fear and terror. Wherever they go they bring only death and destruction exploiting the chaos. Wagner are responsible for systemic and serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, including arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearances, and summary executions.
DEATH IS THEIR BUSINESS
Because death is their business, they live off death. Yes, there is even a book about Wagner with that title. One could say they have made a covenant with death, and they violate every human rights possible. Hell is their destiny…
Their method is domination based on atrocities and impunity. But do they “protect” the population they say they are there to protect? NO. Do they instruct? Maybe only instructing the dictatorial junta in Mali and others in how to kill more effectively and crueler. They kill civilians in Azawad per the orders of Bamako. Genocide on Arabs (Moors) Fulanis and Tuaregs.
WHICH TERRORISTS?
They call it “fighting terrorists”. But which terrorists? Granted, there are terrorists in the area, and lots of them too, who create some real chaos, but those are mostly not targeted since Bamako seemingly takes advantage of the chaos they create, sacrificing the population. NO – The targeted ones are civilians with a lighter skin and different ethnic groups from Azawad – not terrorists – and neither is the Azawad army, the Azawad Liberation Front who are fighting for their land and their freedom any terrorists.
Wagners prescence in Africa is serving military regimes such as the coup plotters in Bamako as an alternative partner of “security” and officially operating in the field of counter terrorism. At least that is their front. If only it was the real terrorists they did target and not the Azawadian civilians!
And it´s worth mentioning it again, often they kill randomly without even check who they are killing, armed or not, terrorist or not. And a little bit later some innocent farmers are found somewhere laying on the ground decapitated. Or a drone bomb hits the house of a sleeping family somewhere in some village in Azawad.
Or some random nomads not even aware of what`s going on in the world gets their tents burned to ashes and their belongings looted, if they even survive the “visit” of the mercenaries and Malian military. Mostly they do not.
Or some random turbaned young teenagers are brutally shot down in the street because of their ethnicity. Or a peaceful old man gets his ear cut off. The examples are endless.
Why did the Wagner Group get replaced with the Africa Corps? to clean their notoriously bad reputation and appear more “civilized” ? But their agenda is still the same, they want the resources of the land and to spread Russian influence on the continent and secure financial gains. And somehow these people thrives in cruelty and death.
Until there is nothing left, no living inhabitants nor resources. Not even a donkey or a camel, not even a tree, nothing, just dead land turned into ashes while the natural resources of the land are looted.
Forced displacement and violence against all human values by the worst of criminals, many recruited from the jails of Russia.
The switch from Wagner to Africa Corps will not change anything except for that the Africa Corps are operating directly under the Russian Ministry of Defense, which makes Russia directly responsible for their actions.
Wagner arrived in Mali in the beginning of December 2021. The main reason they were brought in is officially as contractors and “instructors” to aid Malis junta in their counter terrorism efforts. But their task in reality was and still is what was mentioned above, and to aid in Malis genocide of the Azawadian population which Mali refer to as “terrorists” since that is what the junta wants for the exchange.
And since Wagners business is death, they don´t care who is a real terrorist or not, armed or not, military or civilian, camel or donkey. The irony is that they themselves are actual terrorists even if not in the jihadist form.
Wagner’s activity in Mali allows Malian political leaders to coup-proof the regime in exchange for financial and mineral concessions. A Russian strategy of finding, securing, and extracting natural resources abroad in exchange for protection of for example a regime in a country of conflict where terrorist groups are present.
Fighting the real terrorists would be fine, if that was what they actually did, but they mostly fight non-terrorists. They don´t spare civilians because they don´t care a bit about them. There is of course a lot more than the genocide of Azawadians behind the Malian junta`s decision to turn to Russia. Securing domestic political position for example.

Never give up the Fight
And the people of Azawad keep fighting (since 1963). And even before that, they fought against the French colonizers. They will never give up, they will fight until independence is reached. They were born there and they know their cause is just. They rather die with dignity fighting for their freedom than live under this cruel oppression.
It`s an oppression (by many oppressors) even trying to erase the unique Tuareg identity and culture by using what can be called linguistic cannibalism on their language and the Tifinagh writing. And that real cannibalism (on the part of the Malian army Fama) also has has been used is widely documented.
Forced to flee from where they were born, by the army of Mali and the criminal Wagner mercenaries who are committing hideous crimes in a country that is not even theirs. Supporting a military junta who for ethnic and other reasons wants to commit genocide on a part of the people.
If there is a humanitarian and patriotic issue worthy of support in Africa, it is undoubtedly the case of the people of Azwad. These people whose historical and cultural presence extends across the great Sahara desert since millenia, but in recent decades have known nothing but marginalization and oppression. Deprived of the simplest noble establishments of life, of education, health, and development.
Freedom fighters who will never give up.
