A team from the International Imohauh Organization, led by friend and activist Ayoub Ag Chamad, met today in Geneva with the United Nations Special Team for Africa. During this meeting, the International Imohaugh Organization submitted a detailed and documented report listing the names of victims of ethnic massacres in the Azawad region at the hands of the Malian army’s putschists.
Report on the meeting with the United Nations Independent Expert on Human Rights in Mali on March 25, 2025.
As a preliminary matter, we would like to thank Mr. Gonzales and Mr. Jean-Claude Misenga for their availability and the kind and attentive welcome they extended to us.
The UN expert a report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) detailing the horrific violations to which defenceless civilians were subjected.
We discussed several points concerning the deceased victims and those arrested or missing, primarily in northern Mali, who represent all the communities present in Azawad.
We provided them with a list of all the data collected. We would like to thank all those who overcame their grief, fear, and mistrust to entrust us with the names of their loved ones.
Thanks to this list, they will no longer be just another number of those killed or missing, but rather a person with a name. This list will be used by other authorities, and we will keep you updated as we begin the process.
The list is not closed, and you can continue to send us your messages to that effect. Once again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the bereaved, separated, abused, and dispossessed families.
