THIS IS NO LONGER THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM, BUT THE ERASURE OF A PEOPLE FROM THEIR LAND

The real objective of the Malian and Burkinabe military juntas no longer seems to be the fight against terrorism, but rather the gradual elimination of a people rooted for centuries in their land, under the guise of security rhetoric.

By systematically brandishing the label “terrorists” to justify their actions, these regimes are attempting to cover up serious crimes: targeted violence, forced displacement, expropriations, and a veritable campaign of territorial cleansing.

It is not armed groups that are being targeted, but civilians: women, children, the elderly, who simply aspire to live in peace on the land inherited from their ancestors.

We cannot remain silent in the face of this strategic manipulation of security discourse. Because this complicit silence threatens not only justice and truth, but also the stability of the entire Sahel region.

This is no longer the fight against terrorism, but the erasure of a people from their land.

The Sahel is in mourning, injustice is gaining ground. Let us not remain silent.

Let us be the voices of those who cannot speak.
