Executions of Azawad civilians detained in several detention centers in Mali have been confirmed.
The victims are mostly Tuaregs, Arabs, and Fulani, arrested during operations and patrols conducted by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) and their Russian proxies. Some of the detainees were reportedly executed in detention centers, while other prisoners remain in extremely inhumane and degrading conditions.
Given the gravity of the situation, we urgently call on the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and humanitarian agencies to intervene immediately to protect the detainees still alive and to establish full accountability.
We specifically request independent access to the detention centers in question, verification of the fate of those detained, and the opening of investigations to document these violations.
The international community must act without delay. Every life counts and silence must not allow further atrocities to be committed.
