Initial findings suggest these individuals were taken to this base before being executed. No combatants were among the victims, only nomadic civilians.

The information has been confirmed at this stage by the local human rights association KalAkal.

SYSTEMATIC VOLENCE DENOUNCED FOR DECADES

The kidnappings of Azawad civilians are not new. According to numerous local sources, they are part of a systematic practice implemented by the Malian regime since the 1960s. Extensive photographic and written evidence testifies to the brutality and state terrorism inflicted on the people of Azawad by successive Malian authorities.

For Azawad, this is a war of survival: either defense or extermination.

UNEVEN AND CRITICIZED MEDIA COVERAGE

This latest episode also reignites a recurring observation: the hypocrisy of the international media regarding the tactical, non-ideological alliance between JNIM and the FLA, born out of the need to combat the Afrika Korps. According to several local observers, the major international media outlets ignore or refuse to examine the nuances of this complex situation.

While the Malian state and the Afrika Korps continue to massacre Arab, Tuareg, and Fulani civilians, labeling them “terrorists,” the international press, as a whole, remains silent, these same sources denounce.

UNCOMFORTABLE QUESTIONS

Where were the international media when infants were burned alive by Turkish-made drones? Where were they when entire families were decimated by Wagner, the Afrika Korps, or the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA)? Where were they when thousands of Azawad civilians were crammed into refugee camps? Where were they when Malian soldiers allegedly committed acts of cannibalism on their victims, acts filmed and widely circulated on social media? The evidence exists, Azawad activists claim. The media silence, however, is glaring.

WHY WE SAY “AZAWADIANS”

On this site, we deliberately and politically use the term “Azawadians” rather than “Malians.” Because the ancestral territory is called Azawad, a land that should never have been annexed to Mali. This postcolonial border, the result of an unresolved error of decolonization, has caused so much unspeakable suffering to thousands of innocent people.

May God help Azawad rid itself of its oppressors, murderers, racists, and cannibals!

MESSAGE TO AFRICAN AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:

To African and International Organizations,
The silence observed during the years of catastrophe suffered by our people was not neutral. It stemmed from a choice, a choice fraught with responsibility. While civilian populations in Azawad were being massacred, entire families decimated, and territories transformed into mass graves under the violence of the Malian coup regime and its mercenaries, no statement, no outrage, no stance commensurate with the scale of the crimes was expressed.

Today, some voices feel entitled to speak out, to judge, even to defame, following our response to the Malian positions. False narratives are being circulated, and those who refuse to disappear in silence are labeled “terrorists.” Such practices are an insult to the memory of the victims and the dignity of the survivors.

Let us be clear: any moral authority is disqualified when it has been built on silence in the face of horror. Those who have tolerated such acts cannot claim to guide the future, nor define the contours of justice. This international hypocrisy is firmly rejected, as is this double standard that ranks human lives according to unacceptable logic.

Furthermore, the alliances chosen based on geopolitical interests, including by actors historically perceived as close allies, constitute a profound moral breach whose consequences will remain etched in our memories.

It must be stated unequivocally: the struggle of the people of Azawad cannot be negotiated under duress, nor distorted by external rhetoric.

Those who have chosen silence in the past are urged, if not to act responsibly, to exercise restraint in the present. No external approval is now expected. No belated compassion will suffice.

The determination remains unwavering, and the march continues, despite the obstacles, and, if necessary, in opposition to those who perpetuate them.

Azawad Support Group

03-05-26

H O M E

On May 2, 2026, the day after the withdrawal of the Afrika Korps (formerly Wagner Group) and the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA), several human skeletons were discovered in Amachach, near Tessalit.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

232,335,140,627,677,381
388,796,118,107,294,339,115,119,121,114,797,340,193,120,116,309,117
post-10716","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-africa","category-azawad-liberation-front","category-azawad-news","category-azawad-mali-fama-africa_corps-wagner-atrocities-terrorism-genocide-racism-human-rights-violations","category-colonialism-oppression-neglect-exploitation-azawad-mali","category-sahel","tag-africa_corps","tag-amachach","tag-atrocities","tag-azawad","tag-colonialism","tag-exploitation","tag-fama","tag-genocide","tag-human-rights-violations","tag-mali","tag-mass-graves","tag-neglect","tag-oppression","tag-racism","tag-terrorism","tag-tessalit","tag-wagner
["GET
