The political and diplomatic representation of the Azawadis is neither new nor temporary. Rather, they are a key and consistent party to all peace agreements, the most recent of which was the 2015 Algiers Agreement, from which the coup junta in Bamako withdrew.
The Azawadis enjoy internationally recognized representation, whether from the United Nations, neighboring organizations, or the international community as a whole.
They have officially met with heads of state in the region, from Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, Blaise Compaoré, Idriss Déby, Mohammed VI, and Abdelmadjid Tebboune. They have also been received by the foreign ministers of European countries, and even Russia, a partner of the Bamako coup plotters themselves.
Is it conceivable that these countries and organizations would meet with “terrorist” groups?
It goes without saying, but it must be mentioned: During the peace period, the Bamako government included representatives of the Azawad movements, pursuant to the signed agreement.
So, according to your twisted logic, did the Bamako government “include terrorists”?
Moreover, the former fighters were integrated into the Bamako army itself as part of a UN project. So has the Malian army become “terrorists”? Or do you only describe them as such when they demand their rights?
Have the Azawadis launched any military operations deep within Mali, outside their historical homeland?
Although they possess sufficient equipment and capacity, we have not seen them target Bamako or other major cities, nor have we heard of the storming of civilian homes, the killing of civilians, or the looting of their property anywhere outside the Azawad region.
So where is the terrorism? In those who clearly demand their rights? Or in those who kill their own people and then place the victim in the dock?
