On March 27, 2025, the Kal Akal association revealed audio recordings revealing a new manipulation strategy used by Wagner mercenaries and the Malian junta. Three civilians, Ouli Ag Sidi, Chiti Ag Adidi, and Aswaydi Ould Ghabidine, arbitrarily arrested in the Kidal region, were forced to deny their detention in audio messages.
In one of these recordings, a man declares, under pressure, that he is free in Gao, adding that he is shopping and will soon return to Algeria. He even asks to be reinstated in a WhatsApp group where his disappearance had been reported, a sign of a deliberate effort to cover his tracks and silence suspicions.
Kal Akal denounces a veritable industry of lies orchestrated by the Malian regime and its Russian allies, comparing these practices to war propaganda.
