The Tuareg Diaspora organized manifestation against the massacres in Azawad and the Sahel reached the world despite being restricted in numbers and place, due to french regulations concerning manifestations near any embassy.
Also, Alissa Descotes-Toyosaki, the well-known Japanese-French journalist and writer took part in the manifestation organized by the Tuareg diaspora in Europe near the Russian Embassy in Paris, France, on June 20, 2026.
She spoke in japanese to explain the manifestation for japanese people:
“Today, a Tuareg gathering is taking place in front of the Russian Embassy. The Tuareg are unjustly labeled as terrorists. This situation has been going on for about ten years.
In Mali, the situation has worsened since 2023 with the involvement of Russian Wagner mercenaries. Massacres are being committed, and numerous civilians, including Tuareg nomads and members of other communities, are being killed indiscriminately.
Despite the gravity of the situation, neither the United Nations nor international organizations have taken effective measures to protect civilian populations.
We are here to denounce this situation and these massacres. We will continue to raise our voices and pursue this fight until justice is served for the victims.”

Alissa Descotes-Toyosaki has dedicated her life to let the world know about the Tuareg culture and the challenges and suffering they are facing due to geopolitics and greed, climate change and racism.
She took on the ancient salt caravan route with a dromedary caravan through the Sahara and wrote a book about it., “La Caravanière”. She also made a film called “The Caravan to the Future.” She has written numerous articles in major magazines and participated in dozens of programs and seminars to inform the world about the crimes committed by the Malian army against Tuareg, Arab and Fulani civilians, and their forced displacement from their land.
She recently came out with the book “Sahara Rouge” which will be rewieved here later on, which has a picture on the cover of the lead singer and guitar player Ousmane Mossa of the famous desert blues group Tamikrest.
It`s all about humanity! set the differences aside! – people are suffering injustice in Azawad and in the Sahel and this manifestation that took place yesterday will continue to send ripples long and far, for a long time to come.
And the struggle for freedom continues.
